NUIG Snowsports is the most unique and outgoing club on campus. Our legendary Christmas Trip takes over 120 crazy students to a skiing resort abroad every year, our monthly lessons and freestyle sessions at the dry slope in Kilternan, Dublin affords you the opportunity to learn from scratch how to ski or board, and gives our more experienced members a chance to improve their skills! We also compete in the Intervarsities every year, another legendary social weekend that canot be missed. Last but not least there is, of course, there is the Snowsports Challenge which awards the winner of this competition a free place on the legendary Christmas Trip. If you want to make the most of your time at NUIG and meet some new people you will know for life, get yourself involved now!

Hi everyone !

We are heading to Kilternan to show off what we learnt in Val D’Isere on the 8th of March. As always we are getting the bus from The Quad at 4, this brings us to directly to Kilternan were we get all the gear needed. Then after we get the bus back to Galway and of course have the banter on the way back with a few refreshments. Everything will only cost 30€. There are limited places so sign up fast not be be disappointed.

There is a slight difference this time, this time it will be on a Friday because we are heading up for Freestyle Friday ! This means there will be kickers and rails out, which is unreal craic. There will be no lessons but if ye come along surely a member of the committee will be glad to help you improve your downhill or freestyle skill.

Sign up at the socs box quick! We are only bringing a 25 seater so places will sell out.

It will be a great way to brush up before the IV’s, which are only a month later !


Join us for in Kilternan on November 6th for Ski and Snowboard lessons. All levels of lessons are available even if you are a complete beginner or would like to go get some experience in before you head off on our trip to Val D’Isere. You can also just use the slope without any lessons if you are more experienced.

€30 covers:
-Board/Ski rental
-2hr Lessons(optional)
-Refreshments for the return journey
-Bus up and down to Kilternan, Dublin.

After what was an awesome night – the results are in. Remember, if you placed poorly you still have a great chance of winning as the next challenges involve a totally different set skills.

Meet at Monroes for next challenge is at 7:30 Thursday 18th (hint: You are at a big disadvantage if you arrive late). Make sure your team  has a camera (iphone etc) and a method of putting photos on a computer.

The Snowsports Challenge kicks off on the 11th October. This is a chance for one luck person to win a free place on our main trip to Vl D’Isere in January! Also up for grabs are a pair of skis, some top products from DC Store Galway and loads of other spot prizes. The event runs for three nights spaced out within three weeks. Everyone who signs up is split into teams of 6 and works with that team for three different events. Expect the events to be similar to previous years such as  pub quiz, treasure hunt, mind games and more. In the final round, the winning team will go against each other for the chance to win the free trip. As always, expect a few surprise challenges and some top banter!
